Praia de Santiago - A éviter si l'on n'a rien de particulier à y faire_Santiago (Praia) - A stop that can be skipped

Unless you have some sort of errands to run (like we do, as we wait for the arrival of the snuffer for our spinnaker from Bordeaux to Paris through Belgium and Senegal....what a story.... DHL "EXPRESS" should change their product name indeed, for the parcel gets held back for more than a week in Senegal and finally arrives the day we leave Praia), Praia should not be a priority stop. 5 years ago, we came and found a wonderful fruits and vegetables market to more than adequately complete our stock for the crossing of the Atlantic. Today, the market is being rebuilt and we have to make do with a rather limited and costly range of products from the few small supermarkets. The security of the anchorage has unfortunately not been improved, getting fresh water is not that easy (but we manage, the guys at the Enacol pontoon have no problems filling up our bottles), and our contact with some of the locals has not been great: opportunists, eager to earn some money without being completely sincere in welcoming us.

So well, we do still enjoy the Cabo Verde islands, but just like for the Canaries, we will, if the future and the winds so decide for us to pass through the archipelago once again, choose our preferred islands for our stops : Sao Vincente (Mindelo), Santo Antao, Sao Nicolau, Brava and Maio (the last only by plane). We thus bid farewell to these islands east of the Atlantic, and prepare, in the next few days, our crossing towards South America (Brazil).
