Our Yamaha outboard has been heating up since the Berlengas. Suspecting the thermostat to be the culprit disrupting the cooling system, we dismantle the relevant parts in the secured confines of the cockpit to find the thermostat encrusted in crystals of salt! A dip in vinegar, some delicate brushing and scraping, and a temperature test (to confirm that the thermostat still works), and the precious outboard is back to normal. A relief indeed and a very good mechanical training session for Shu-In!

If you are in town when my car engine heats up, I know who can fix it....
