Puerto Eden Is a tiny fishing village of 80 inhabitants, out of time, lost in the middle of the immense Channels. For us, Puerto Eden is a little paradise, as the relief and joy of arriving here is difficult to put into words, after the most tedious part of our journey. Here, we meet José, patron of his "hospedaje" (guesthouse), a team of young medical staff, in particular the young surgeon Angelo, who is on a mission of just 5 short days at the 'Poste de Salud' (medical post). We profit as well, of course to purchase some additional diesel, albeit at the price of gold, and complement our fresh food (and coffee!) supplies in a groceries store that dates back to the 50s or even pre-war... but equally with exorbitant prices. We dine in the "hospedaje", with Chilean engineers and the doctors, enjoying a much awaited rest on the sofa in front of a wood stove, together with a beautiful Maine Coon, and a huge tray of bread dough rising in front of the stove, of which one is for us, ordered specially the same morning to be hot and fresh out of the oven when we leave!
