Vers les Caraïbes_To the Carribeans

A rapid passage from French Guiana, marking a record of 180 nautical miles over 24 hours. Despite our speed, fishing is an impossible task throughout our journey due to the incredible quantity of floating gulfweed, encountered as early as 100 nautical miles north of Guiana's coast.  All we succeed in pulling out are bunches of gulfweed hanging obstinately onto the fishing hooks... We make landfall at Marie-Galante (the almost round crepe-shaped southern island of Guadeloupe) after sunset on 14/3, with Shu-In at the bow shining our most powerful frontal lamp looking out for fishing traps or lines as we approach the anchorage of 'Les Trois Ilets'... and there are many such traps, mostly in the form of a small plastic bottle bobbing indiscreetly on the surface, obliging us to zigzag very slowly our way through.
